California At The Top Again no comments
Nice Job Arnold, thought you were supposed to be the “Governator” and pull us out of the mess that Gray Davis left us in. Sorry but the reality of it is you are no better than he was. Just so you know that takes a lot for me to say because I hated Gray Davis. Now you suck just as bad, now we top the list ONCE AGAIN as one of the states that cannot pay their own way. Don’t blame the economy on this one, this has been a long time coming.
States That Can’t Pay for Themselves
The Golden State, which recently scrambled to fill a $15 billion budget gap, still may not be able to meet its payroll without help.
California is going to Washington, D.C., to ask for $7 billion to cover its budget shortfall. Otherwise it won’t be able to pay for its teachers, cops, firemen, and other essential services. Unfortunately, California won’t be alone. A number of other states are experiencing a huge dive in tax revenue and could be going cap in hand to Uncle Sam alarmingly soon. How bad could it get? The potential cost for all the 31 states facing both major and minor shortfalls could be as much as $53.4 billion.
The data is based on a study by the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities released at the end of September and shows the states that have seen the biggest shortfalls in tax revenue in their fiscal 2009 budgets.

California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger warned this week that the state might need to borrow $7 billion from the federal government, if credit markets don’t ease, to pay for salaries and other operating costs. The state, which has been battered by falling home prices and foreclosures, enacted a budget that imposed cuts to the state’s health insurance program for the poor and other social service programs.

However I can’t believe with the dump our economy is in that Arnold Schwarzenegger wanted to impose an additional tax on the state of California. He claimed it was supposed to be a “temporary tax” but we know all good and well that “temporary” ALWAYS becomes permanent when speaking of taxes. I am unemployed and have chosen not to burden the state by filing for unemployment or welfare. I’m beginning to think I am an idiot for not doing so because every way I turn someone is trying to stick their hands in my pocket. It happened to me as a business owner and it continues to happen has a regular unemployed schmoe. I know I’m wrong for thinking or expecting it to be any different.

Previously Arnold had been against a plan that would tax the states richest people. Of course he opposed that as it would have effected him and his buddies. I too oppose it as I believe in the trickle down effect but find it awfully hilarious that he opposes that and thinks he can get away with screwing over us grunts of the state. Sorry buddy but most of us do not have the deep pockets you do!! Makes me sick to think I fell for your early rhetoric, you and George Bush are one in the same. I supported you both early on and now everyday I regret anything good I’ve ever said about the both of you.
California already is taxed amongst the highest in state income tax. A yearly salary of $45,000 which is barely enough to live on in a comfortable manner in this state reaches close to 10% of your total income. We also have the highest gas tax at .45 cents per gallon and add the local city and county tax to that you get just under or a little over $1.00 (depending on your location) per gallon of gas in tax.
Is Arnold Schwarzenegger really that shielded from the common man that he thought this “temporary tax” would be ok? Is he really that evil to think he can do what he wants? Is he really that dumb to think he can get away with this? No matter what I’m sure he believes and is probably right that the people who are aware of this will forget about this come election time. He’s going to have to take a lot of public speaking lessons from Barack Obama in order to make me forget.
Between the Global Warming tax Arnold wanted to impose and now this tax, Governator, you’ve lost my vote
